Owen Chamberlain papers, 1941-2006.

The Owen Chamberlain Papers, 1941-2006, consist of materials documenting Chamberlian's career as a Professor of Physics at the University of California, Berkeley and researcher at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. The collection includes correspondence, subject files, and materials relating to Professor Chamberlain's involvement in the social justice and nuclear disarmament movements. Also included are files relating to his involvement in campus political activities, personal notebooks from his tours of Rome and the USSR in the 1950's, and materials relating to the Special Opportunity Scholarship Program, which Chamberlain helped to start at UC Berkeley. There is comparatively little material relating to Chamberlain's own scientific research.
